Position Overview

Branta is seeking a highly skilled Shift Engineer to support the Data Centre Management Team in delivering a customer-focused, cost-effective service. You will maintain critical building plant, execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and respond to reactive faults or site engineering emergencies to ensure zero downtime. This role requires a calm manner under pressure, a flexible attitude to overtime for holiday cover, and the ability to pass a strict security check.

Key Responsibilities

Critical Maintenance: Carry out routine PPM and reactive maintenance on building infrastructure, complex mechanical/electrical plant, and dual-fed critical systems.

Emergency Response: Diagnose faults and respond rapidly to Building Management System (BMS) alarms, executing emergency repairs and escalating hazards as needed.

Safety & Subcontractor Compliance: Issue and manage Permits to Work. Prepare and adhere to RAMS, follow industry ACOPs, and supervise on-site engineering subcontractors.

Reporting & Logistics: Maintain regular, accurate updates in QHSE logbooks, complete shift handovers, manage suitable plant spares, and log data via Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Client Relations: Deliver exceptional customer service, presenting a professional image while interacting directly with client management and visitors.
Training & Qualifications (Essential):

Formally trained in electrical services maintenance.

City & Guilds 236 Parts 1 & 2 (or later equivalent) and 18th Edition.

Up-to-date knowledge of BMS, ACOPs, fire/environmental systems, and health & safety regulations.

Desirable: Formal H&S training (IOSH) and Safe Operation of High Voltage Equipment (S4).
Experience Parameters:

Essential: Proven track record in critical environment facilities maintenance (UPS systems, standby generators, dual-fed systems, and electrical testing).

Sound experience writing RAMS and meeting legal health and safety obligations.

Desirable: Appointed HV/AP with switching schedule experience, and prior data centre exposure.
