Contract ETL & Data Platform Specialist - NAV/Jet

The Opportunity

A well-known UK membership organisation is seeking an experienced Contract ETL & Data Platform Specialist with strong, hands-on expertise in the Jet Analytics ecosystem and SQL Server for a focused, short-term remediation engagement.

You will take ownership of a non-performant ETL and data platform environment - diagnosing the issues, implementing the fixes, and leaving behind a streamlined, performant, and well-documented data platform with clear knowledge transfer to the internal team.

You will be working alongside a parallel Reporting Specialist engagement, so collaboration and alignment on shared data requirements is an important part of the role.

What You'll Be Doing

• Assess and remediate an existing non-performant ETL setup - identifying root causes of performance, reliability, and data completeness issues across the NAV-to-Jet Data Warehouse pipeline
• Review and optimise the Jet ETL, warehouse, and physical database design on SQL Server - recommending and implementing changes for efficiency, scalability, and resilience
• Review and optimise the Jet Finance cube design and refresh processing (Jet Data Warehouse to SSAS Tabular) - improving performance and reliability of cube refresh cycles
• Coordinate scheduling across ETL and cube processes with the internal Platforms team to avoid conflicts with patching and backup windows
• Deliver monitoring scripts and alerting recommendations so failures, delays, and data issues are immediately visible to the team

What You'll Need

• Strong understanding of data warehouse design concepts and performance optimisation at ETL and database level
• Solid, hands-on experience with SQL Server as both a transactional data source and a data warehouse platform
• Proven experience working with SSAS Tabular analytics cubes - design, refresh processing, and performance tuning
• Strong Jet Data Warehouse design and optimisation experience
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV data structures
• Strong system analysis, troubleshooting, and documentation skills - you can explain complex technical decisions clearly

The Working Arrangement

• 2/3 days per week (flexibility on structure discussed at offer stage)
• Hybrid - primarily remote with occasional on-site attendance in London
• Duration: 3-6 months initial contract; extension possible
• Start: ASAP
