We are looking for a compassionate, resilient and enthusiastic Mental Health Assistant to join our specialist school in Oxford in September 2026.

Our school supports children and young people aged 5 to 16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many of our pupils experience challenges linked to social communication difficulties, anxious attachments, trauma and early experiences of neglect. These experiences can impact learning, relationships and self-belief - and that's where you come in.

What Makes This Role Special?

This is not your typical classroom role.

You will:

Be a trusted adult and consistent safe presence
Support pupils to regulate emotions and develop coping strategies
Help children build healthy relationships and social confidence
Work alongside teachers and therapists to create nurturing, trauma-informed learning environments
Support communication needs through patience, creativity and understanding
Celebrate every small step forward - because here, progress looks differentYou'll be part of a team that understands behaviour through a trauma-informed lens and believes connection comes before correction.
