MULTI-SKILLED BUILDING SERVICES ENGINEER (MEP)
Local Authority Role
THE ROLE
We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Building Services Engineer to carry out mechanical, electrical and/or plumbing (MEP) repairs and planned maintenance across a range of local authority buildings including schools, children’s centres and other public facilities.
The role includes reactive repairs, planned preventative maintenance, statutory compliance testing, and minor installation or renewal works. You will diagnose faults, identify solutions, and ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to required standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Carry out reactive repairs and planned maintenance across MEP systems
• Diagnose building faults and determine appropriate repair solutions
• Undertake statutory compliance checks and testing
• Respond to emergency maintenance issues
• Read technical drawings, O&M manuals and specifications
• Ensure all work complies with health & safety and building regulations
• Record work accurately using digital systems
• Liaise with contractors and building users as required
• Minimise disruption to occupied buildings
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience in at least two MEP disciplines (mechanical, electrical or plumbing) and hold an NVQ Level 3 OR 2, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification.
You will bring experience in building maintenance, repairs or installation work, ideally within commercial, education or public sector environments.
You will be confident fault-finding, working independently, and delivering high-quality maintenance services in occupied buildings.
Essential:
• Multi-skilled MEP experience
• Ability to diagnose and repair building systems
• Understanding of health & safety and compliance standards
• Ability to read drawings and manuals
• Strong communication skills
• Full UK Driving Licence (desirable)
