Long Term Futures is recruiting a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time role within a supportive secondary school in Wandsworth. This position is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs, helping them access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential within an inclusive school environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with a student on a 1:1 basis, alongside teaching staff, the SEN department, and wider pastoral teams, to provide tailored academic, social, and emotional support. The role focuses on promoting engagement, independence, and positive outcomes for a student with additional learning needs.

Responsibilities

Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a student with Special Educational Needs throughout the school day.
Supporting the student's academic progress by adapting learning activities and resources where appropriate.
Encouraging positive behaviour, engagement, and participation within lessons.
Assisting with the implementation of EHCP targets and SEN support strategies.
Supporting the student's social, emotional, and communication development.
Working closely with teaching staff, the SENCO, parents/carers, and external professionals where required.
Monitoring and recording progress, behaviour, and learning outcomes.
Helping to develop the student's confidence, independence, and self-esteem.
Creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that enables the student to thrive.
Essential Candidate Requirements

Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or in a similar role.
Experience supporting young people with Special Educational Needs is essential.
Knowledge of Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech & Language Needs, or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs is desirable.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach to supporting young people with additional needs.
A genuine passion for supporting students' educational development and well-being.
The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school support team.
Must hold a valid enhanced DBS check on the update service.
