Our Client is a global organisation with a strong reputation for precision engineering and innovation, they are expanding their UK team and are looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join their Assembly department in Redhill.
🚀 The Role
As a Mechanical Fitter, you'll play a key role in the assembly and build of high-precision testing equipment. Working both independently and as part of a collaborative team, you'll be responsible for delivering quality builds that meet exacting standards.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
Assemble and build materials testing machines, mechanical and pneumatic grips, and precision instruments
Fit mechanical components including wiring looms and electronic displays
Operate workshop equipment such as pillar drills, manual lathes, and hand tools
Interpret engineering drawings, assembly drawings, and tolerances
Ensure parts are correctly prepared, fitted, and adapted for testing
Carry out quality checks and maintain high standards of workmanship
Complete all required documentation (work orders, timesheets, etc.)
Maintain an organised, clean, and safe working environment
Collaborate with colleagues across departments and support team objectives
Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting process enhancements🎯 What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience:
Apprentice-trained or equivalent (NVQ, HNC, HND or similar in Mechanical Engineering)
Strong mechanical engineering background
Competent using precision measuring tools (micrometers, verniers, etc.)
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Experience using a range of manual and machine tools
Understanding of health and safety best practice
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilityDesirable:
City & Guilds, BTEC, or ONC equivalent
Experience in a machine build or production environment💡 What You'll Bring
A proactive, can-do attitude and strong work ethic
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
The ability to work independently and take initiative
Logical thinking and a methodical approach to problem-solving
Flexibility and a willingness to support wider team goals⏰ Working Hours
39 hours per week
Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
