The Role
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join a global manufacturing leader of electromechanical testing machinery. You will be responsible for the mechanical assembly of machines and accessories, ensuring all components are fitted to high precision standards.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanically assemble and build machines, including the fitting of wiring looms and electronic displays.
Competently operate tool room equipment, including Pillar Drills, Manual Lathes, Manual Milling machines, and Horizontal Grinders.
Fabricate special tools as required and maintain all associated tooling.
Ensure all parts are adapted and collated for equipment testing while maintaining quality assurance standards.
Interpret engineering drawings and geometric tolerances to ensure accurate assembly.
Collaborate with the Assembly Supervisor to report progress, manage drawings, and suggest improvements to working practices.
Requirements
Education: Apprentice-trained and time-served with an NVQ, HNC, HND, or City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience: A solid background in mechanical engineering with close-tolerance assembly skills in a machine-build environment.
Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of a variety of hand and machine tools.
Attributes: A logical and innovative approach to problem-solving, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Compliance: Working knowledge of current Health and Safety best practices
