Responsibilities and duties of the Senior Research Scientist role

Reporting to the Team Leader within the Research and Innovation Division you will:

Lead the technical delivery of research projects, ensuring delivery to time, cost, and quality requirements.
Support business growth activities through bid development, technical strategy creation, and solution development.
Identify opportunities to exploit research outputs into future products and capabilities.
Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary research programmes.
Lead and coordinate small teams of researchers and technical specialists.
Develop innovative solutions across a range of scientific and engineering disciplines.
Communicate complex technical concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Analyse technical outputs and provide clear recommendations to support decision-making.
Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and stakeholders to develop and deliver advanced technical solutions.
Support and mentor junior team members, contributing to their professional development.
Utilise scientific computing tools such as MATLAB and Python to support modelling, analysis, and research activities.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

Degree or PhD qualified in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
Demonstrable experience planning, coordinating, and delivering research programmes.
Proven track record of developing innovative technical solutions
Experience using scientific computing software such as MATLAB, Python, or similar tools.
Ability to obtain Security Clearance (SC).
