A wonderful specialist school in Selly Oak is on the lookout for dedicated teaching assistant to work with their amazingly talented pupils. The school cater to individuals across key stage 3, 4 and 5 with carrying SEND needs including Autism, Speech, Language and Communication, Social Emotional and Menal Health (SEMH) as well as Moderate (MLD) and Severe (SLD) Learning Difficulties.
The school prides themselves on meeting each student’s individual needs and are looking for teaching assistants who will bring with them not just a “can do” attitude but the motivation to ensure that every learner is supported to meet their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
* Support young people aged 11–19 years with varying SEND needs such as Autism, MLD, SLD, SEMH and Speech, Language and Communication Needs
* Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), EHCP outcomes, and personalised learning programmes
* Support pupils to engage with learning activities using approaches tailored to their individual needs
* Follow behaviour policies and behaviour management plans
Person Requirements
* Experience of working with young people with varying SEND needs such as Autism, MLD, SLD, SEMH and Speech, Language and Communication Needs
* Flexible and adaptable to the needs and requirements of individuals with SEND needs
* Flexible and adaptable to the needs and requirements of a special school
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Commitment to inclusive education and pupil wellbeing
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or we can put one in place for you)
* Two satisfactory references covering a minimum of 12 months
