We are working on behalf of our client, a highly regarded engineering and manufacturing organisation, to recruit an experienced Quality Inspector to join their quality team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a critical role in ensuring product quality across a complex supply chain, working with precision-engineered components in a high-specification environment.

The Role

As a Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting and verifying components and sub-assemblies, while acting as a key link between suppliers and internal teams to drive quality improvements.

You will take ownership of supplier quality performance, ensuring issues are identified, communicated, and resolved efficiently.

Key responsibilities include:

Inspecting sub-assemblies and components against engineering drawings using a range of metrology equipment, including CMM and Faro Arm
Recording inspection results, deviations, and non-conformances against specifications
Raising NCRs and working closely with suppliers to drive timely and effective resolution
Conducting root cause analysis on non-conformances and ensuring corrective actions are implemented
Acting as the main point of contact for supplier quality issues from the shop floor
Building strong relationships with suppliers to improve quality and performance
Promoting a “Right First Time” culture and continuous improvement across the supply chain
Applying appropriate AQL inspection plans based on supplier performance, product criticality, and risk
Managing supplier “Red Flag” processes within the ERP system
Supporting supplier audits, performance reviews, and KPI tracking
Maintaining and updating inspection and quality data within the ERP system
Working in line with ISO 2859-1:1999 sampling procedures
Supporting documentation such as ISIRs and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs)
Occasional travel to supplier or client sites as required (expenses covered) About You

We are looking for a detail-oriented quality professional who is confident working in a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
You will ideally have:

At least 3 years’ experience in a machine shop or similar manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of quality and process tools such as SPC and AQL
Experience working to ISO 9001:2015 standards
Proven experience using CMM, Faro Arm, and a range of metrology equipment
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications
Experience managing supplier quality issues and communicating KPIs
A solid understanding of geometric tolerancing, datum structures, and tight tolerances
Knowledge of ISIRs and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) Desirable Experience

Experience with welding and fabrication processes
Background in vacuum technology or a similar high-specification industry Qualifications

Degree, HNC, or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline Personal Attributes

Able to work independently and take ownership of tasks
Driven to improve processes and deliver high-quality outcomes
Highly motivated with a proactive approach
Strong attention to detail
Good communicator, able to listen, contribute, and implement decisions effectively Why Apply?
