The Role
My client is seeking an experienced CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator to join their precision engineering team. The role involves programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines to produce high-quality components in line with detailed engineering drawings and customer specifications.
You will play a key role in ensuring parts are manufactured accurately, efficiently, and to the required standards, while contributing to overall production performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines to manufacture precision components
• Producing parts in line with engineering drawings and customer specifications
• Selecting appropriate tooling, cutting strategies and machining methods to optimise efficiency
• Ensuring all components meet required quality standards and tolerances
• Working to production schedules and deadlines to meet business and customer requirements
• Carrying out basic inspection and quality checks
• Identifying and resolving machining issues to maintain productivity
• Supporting continuous improvement within the machine shop
The Candidate
Completed an engineering apprenticeship or gained equivalent hands-on machining experience
Strong experience with CNC milling machines
Experience working with CAD/CAM software would be beneficial
Exposure to multi-axis machining centres is advantageous
Experience using manual machines
Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload
Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office
Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work effectively within a team
Salary
£30,000- £40,000 plus overtime depending on skills and experience
