Day rate: £380 (inside IR35, via umbrella)

We're supporting a large, regulated infrastructure organisation that is undergoing a significant finance transformation. As part of this change, they are building out a new Investment Accounting team to provide hands‑on, day‑to‑day financial support to the business.

This is a practical, delivery‑focused contract rather than a purely polished BAU role. It would suit someone who enjoys being close to the detail, can learn quickly, and is comfortable operating in a changing environment.

The role offers excellent exposure to capital and project finance, a collaborative team, and a strong chance of extension for the right person.

Providing day‑to‑day finance support across a high volume of projects
Managing and responding to a shared finance mailbox, handling a wide range of queries
Supporting project set‑up, cost tracking, accruals, and project closures
Processing and reviewing journals, cost transfers, and month‑end activities
Acting as a key point of contact for non‑finance stakeholders, helping them understand processes and requirements
Supporting process improvements and helping stabilise a newly restructured team
Ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and confidence in financial information provided to the businessThis role requires someone who can be proactive, organised, and comfortable working with ambiguity while changes are embedded.

Skills & experience

A solid grounding in accounting fundamentals (e.g. accruals, depreciation, basic project lifecycle concepts)
Experience working in a finance or accounting role with transactional or operational focus
Confidence engaging with non‑finance stakeholders
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high‑volume workloads
A proactive, adaptable attitude and willingness to learn quickly
Exposure to project, capital, or infrastructure environments
