O&M Shift Team Leader

£71,000 + Benefits

Alecto Recruitment are partnering with a market leader within the Waste to Energy sector, who is seeking an O&M Shift Team Leader to join the operations team on their Power Station in Berkshire.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and supervise shift personnel to maintain safe and efficient plant operations
Ensure strict adherence to HSEQ standards, procedures, and safe systems of work
Directs and actively supervises operators and support staff during assigned shifts to ensure the continuous and reliable operation of all process systems and equipment
Ensures all shift personnel are properly trained for their roles, adhere to established operating procedures for both routine and emergency scenarios, and uphold safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible practices
Champions an effective safety culture by leading regular safety meetings, reinforcing each employee's understanding of and accountability to safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Keeps accurate daily shift logs and verifies completion of all operator records and system check sheets; prepares thorough, timely reports for significant events
Monitors plant and equipment condition, initiating maintenance work requests as needed to ensure all assets remain in good working order
Serves as the senior on-site management representative during nights, weekends, and holidays, taking full ownership of all operational decisions in the absence of senior leadership
Conducts annual performance evaluations for all Operators, holding individual discussions to review progress and development throughout the year and at year-end
Ensures active participation in all HSE inspections, audits, assessments, and related meetings​​​​​​

Skills and Qualifications:

Degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience (preferred)
Proven experience in EfW, power generation, or similar industrial environment
Previous experience in a Shift Team Leader or supervisory position within a heavy process environment.
Strong understanding of power plant systems and operations
Strong safety leadership with a proactive and accountable mindset
Solid technical knowledge with the ability to support and develop team capability
Effective problem-solving skills with a practical, solution-focused approach
Confident communicator with strong leadership and interpersonal skills
Ability to perform under pressure and manage shifting operational priorities
