Job Title: Lead Assembly Operator
Location: Smethwick
Pay Rate: £12.95 - £14 per hour
Working Hours
* Monday to Thursday: 07:30 – 16:30
* Friday: 07:30 – 12:30 (early finish)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Lead Assembly Operator to oversee and support the day-to-day operations of our production, warehouse, and refurbishment teams in Smethwick.
This is a key leadership role requiring a proactive individual who can lead by example on the shop floor while ensuring productivity, quality, and efficiency targets are met. The successful candidate will play an integral part in coordinating team activities while remaining actively involved in assembly and refurbishment tasks.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and support the production, warehouse, and refurbishment teams
* Allocate daily tasks and monitor workflow to ensure targets are achieved
* Remain hands-on with assembly, wiring, disassembly, and refurbishment of electrical units
* Oversee the disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and reassembly of returned products
* Ensure all work is completed in line with company standards and technical specifications
* Read and interpret technical drawings and assembly instructions
* Conduct testing and quality checks on completed units
* Maintain high standards of health & safety, housekeeping, and organisation
* Provide guidance, training, and support to team members
Candidate Requirements (Essential)
* Previous supervisory or team leader experience within a manufacturing or production environment
* Proven hands-on experience in electrical or mechanical assembly
* Strong understanding of hand tools and basic electrical components
* Ability to read and follow technical drawings
* Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
* Strong communication and leadership skills
* Reliable, proactive, and able to motivate a team
