Bright Star Talent is currently recruiting for an experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a specialist SEN base in a school recently rated “Good” by Ofsted.
We are looking for passionate individuals who have previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and are committed to helping pupils achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support with their learning, communication, and emotional development. You will play an important role in creating a positive and engaging learning environment while supporting the class teacher and SEN team.
Responsibilities Include:
* Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
* Supporting children with additional learning and behavioural needs
* Assisting with classroom activities and lesson delivery
* Encouraging pupil engagement, confidence, and independence
* Implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and support strategies
* Supporting pupils with communication and social interaction
* Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents
Requirements
Essential:
* Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs
* Experience within a school, SEN setting, or specialist provision
* Strong communication and behaviour management skills
* A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
* Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
* Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Desirable:
* Experience supporting Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language needs
* Relevant Teaching Assistant or SEN qualifications
