SEN Science Teacher - Specialist Secondary Provision - North London

A specialist independent SEN school in North London is seeking an experienced and nurturing Science Teacher to join its team on a full-time, permanent basis from September 2026, although an earlier start may be available for the right candidate.

The school supports students aged 11-19 with a range of additional needs, including SEMH and SEN, many of whom have experienced challenges within mainstream education and present with gaps in learning. The provision offers a highly therapeutic, relationship-focused environment with small class sizes and a strong emphasis on personalised support and student wellbeing.

This is not a traditional mainstream secondary science position. The successful candidate will be teaching students working across a wide range of abilities, often below age-related expectations, and supporting them to make meaningful academic and personal progress towards GCSEs or other suitable pathways.

The school is looking for a teacher who can:

Teach Science up to GCSE level
Build strong, positive relationships with students
Adapt learning to meet individual needs
Deliver creative and engaging lessons
Support students with SEN and SEMH needs effectively
Demonstrate patience, resilience and emotional intelligence
Understand trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches to behaviour and learningThe ideal candidate will hold QTS and have previous experience working within SEN, SEMH or alternative provision settings. Secondary-trained teachers with a strong understanding of inclusive practice are encouraged to apply.

In return, the school offers:

A supportive and therapeutic working environment
Small class sizes and personalised teaching
A collaborative and values-led staff team
Ongoing CPD, particularly around SEN and trauma-informed practice
The opportunity to make a significant and lasting impact on young people's livesAll applicants must have the right to work in the UK and will be subject to enhanced safeguarding checks in line with safer recruitment practices
