Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have the resilience, empathy, and dedication to help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential?

Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking a committed and enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant Specialist to work within a specialist SEMH provision supporting students with additional behavioural and emotional needs.

The Role:

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant Specialist, you will:

Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs

Assist in managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies

Build strong, trusting relationships with students to promote engagement and emotional wellbeing

Support students both inside and outside the classroom environment

Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies

Encourage social, emotional, and academic development

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional learning needs

A calm, patient, and resilient approach

Strong behaviour management skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners

Experience in alternative provisions, PRUs, youth work, care, or mental health support is highly desirable
