Join at the start of this new project and help shape a new software Engineering function in Southampton.

You're a technical lead looking for a step up to Development Manager, or a hands-on Development Manager looking a new challenge, then this is for you!

Described as an IT company doing logistics for E-commerce, our client is embarking on an ambitious new project to development their own channel integrations platform.

You will be working closely with the CTO in a key leadership role, driving technical excellence, shaping the future of the software platform, and empowering a talented team to achieve greatness.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Building and Leading Teams: Take charge of a newly formed software development function, leading hybrid-working teams and fostering collaboration.
  • Defining the Future: Work closely with the CTO to design, develop, and deliver innovative software systems using modern tools and practices.
  • Making Things Happen: Drive the technical delivery of complex, high-impact projects, ensuring business outcomes are achieved.
  • Recruitment and Growth: Play a key role in hiring the best talent, helping to grow and shape a high-performing engineering function.

We're looking for a passionate and experienced leader who's as excited about technology as they are about building high-performing teams.

You'll need to have:

  • Proven experience leading hybrid-working software development teams.
  • Experience of delivering technically complex projects in collaboration with Product Owners and stakeholders.
  • Expertise in cloud computing (Google Cloud Platform preferred).
  • Solid experience in JavaScript development (Node.js, React/NextJS).
  • Knowledge of event-driven microservices, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes (Google GKE preferred).
  • Excellent communication and people management skills, including running 1-2-1s, appraisals, and team meetings.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Familiarity with GitOps principles.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools, particularly Terraform.
  • A background in project management is a bonus.

With new offices in the Southampton area this is a hybrid role, requiring you in the office regularly.

Salary is dependent on experience, and we're looking to arrange interviews immanently.
