Job title: Service Engineer

Location: Laughton, East Sussex

Job type: Permanent

Salary: £30-40k per annum

iO Associates are seeking for a Service Engineer to work with a leading UK-based manufacturer specializes in advanced electron microscopy sample preparation, offering innovative, reliable instruments for global research and industry.

With a strong Legacy, a global network, and expanded capabilities in nanotechnology, the company drives excellence in scientific innovation.

Required:

  • Proficiency in managing technical paperwork, third-party activities, and conformance declarations, as well as in maintaining structural integrity and adhering to pressure regulations.
  • Knowledge of pressure equipment design and operation using mechanical engineering (preferably RCC-M or ASME regulations).
  • It is preferable to have chartered membership in a relevant professional organisation (like IMechE) or the ability to get chartership.
  • Substantial background in managing assets or large-scale projects in regulated areas like petrochemical, nuclear, oil and gas, or power production.

Responsibilities:

  • Substantial, verifiable experience in a related field, or HNC/HND in an electrical or mechanical field.
  • The capacity to accurately read and comprehend mechanical, electrical, and electronic engineering drawings.
  • Possible to construct instrument point-to-point wiring looms from single wires to form looms and tie-wrap by following circuit schematics.
  • Capacity to connect and operate pressurised gas bottles, fit sleeves and solder or crimp joints, prepare cables and use electrical test tools, such as multimeters.
  • Capacity to fit, test and commission entire systems involving medium to high vacuum levels using mechanical test measuring tools, such as micrometres and Vernier gauges.
