Regional Director - Southwestern PA

The Steel Valley Authority (SVA) is seeking a Regional Director
that will be responsible for the Strategic Early Warning Network
(SEWN) administration for Southwestern Pennsylvania, including
western portions of the Southern Alleghenies. SEWN is
Pennsylvania's layoff aversion program created, implemented and
managed by the SVA since 1989. SEWN's mission is saving
Pennsylvania manufacturing jobs by offering specialized
consulting services to restructure, turn-around and stabilize
at-risk small and medium size companies. It achieves this by
providing specialized turnaround advisory services and is funded by
the PA Department of Labor and Industry.
The Regional Director reports to the Deputy Director of the SVA.
The position will engage in outreach and networking to maintain and
develop regional private and public sector partners and resources
to achieve this mission. Candidates should be familiar with the
region as well as related key organizations. For more info on SVA,
Marketing: Continue to develop and expand a
regional referral system. Build alliances, partnerships and
awareness of SEWN by meeting, educating and coordinating with a
broad range of stakeholders including economic development and
workforce development professionals, private sector professionals,
labor and public officials.
Consulting: Conduct business assessments
for small and mid-size manufacturing firms that have been referred
to the program due to various internal and external
issues. Develop and implement turnaround plans utilizing
personal experience and skills as well as other organizational
Continue to expand SEWN's impact on at-risk manufacturers
throughout an 11 county region in southwestern Pennsylvania by
building awareness and referral sources.
Conduct assessments, develop turnaround strategies, provide
hands-on technical assistance and coordinate other resources (where
applicable) with manufacturing firms and plants to prevent closings
and minimize layoffs.
Provide technical assistance, analysis, planning and
implementation to assist manufacturers specifically in the areas of
Financial Restructuring, Operations & Cost Management, Ownership
Transition, New Market Opportunities and High-Performance Workplace
Fulfill internal reporting requirements and requests that
enable the SVA to promote the work of the SEWN program and to meet
funding requirements as requested by the SVA and its project
Contribute to the overall success and vision of the SEWN
program continuing as the national gold standard in state layoff
aversion programs as benchmarked by the number of Pennsylvania jobs
saved for dollars spent.
BA degree minimum and a documented history of relevant previous
experience and appropriate skill sets required. The successful
candidate may be required to attain their CTA (Certified Turnaround
Analyst) certification within a reasonable time period to round out
their knowledge base.
