Job Description

 (ICG) is currently seeking a Linux Engineer, Intermediate to join our team in LaVergne, TN (Greater Nashville area). This person designs, develops, supports, and maintains the organization’s infrastructure while proactively ensuring the highest level of system and infrastructure availability.

The ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or directly related year for year work experience.

3+ years as a System Engineer or equivalent role  

We have a preference for:

Experience deploying and supporting Linux-based server operating systems

3-5 years supporting RedHat or equivalent OS

Configuration automation tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef, and SaltStack, Ansible

Demonstrated experience utilizing Python, Bash, zsh

Demonstrated experience with virtualization technologies and hypervisors such as VMware, KVM, and Citrix XenServer

Experience building/installing open-source databases such as MySQL, PostreSQL, MongoDB

Experience in enterprise storage infrastructure technologies such as Fiber Channel, SANs NFS, CIFS and HCI Architecture

Experience configuring and supporting Linux networking and service management

Knowledge of version control systems such as Git and Subversion

Demonstrated experience utilizing software deployment tools such as Azure DevOPS, GitLab

Working knowledge of application containerization platforms such as Docker, Podman, and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes

Experience working with Public Cloud platforms such as Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure

Daily support of production servers to include responding to alerts, interacting with internal customers, etc

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Ability to determine when to escalate problems as needed

Current understanding of IT security best practice

The Linux Engineer’s key responsibilities are:

Troubleshoots problems related to physical and virtual infrastructure performance and resolve trouble tickets as assigned

Participates in a 24-hour on call rotation as part of a larger team

Manages, participates, or performs tasks related to specific projects to implement new technology as assigned

Builds, configures, integrates, deploys and tests infrastructure components, operating systems, application software and system management tools

Designs, builds, maintains and monitors systems and platforms ensuring they consistently exceed defined goals for availability, capacity, efficiency, scalability, and performance

Builds, implements, and maintains security, redundancy, and backup strategies

Evaluates, maintains, and modifies established ‘best practices’ for infrastructure maintenance and asset management

Maintains consistent documentation for system configurations, installation and administration procedures

Utilizes configuration automation tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef, and SaltStack

Interacts regularly with senior engineers to identify, build, and implement automation to drive greater efficiencies and standards

Deploys, configures, manages and maintains system monitoring tools such as Solarwinds, Nagios/Icinga, and Prometheus

Organizes priorities, escalate problems as needed and communicate effectively with manager, co-workers and clients

Consults with Ingram associates, vendors, and trading partners to evaluate business opportunities related to our technology infrastructure

Hiring Salary Range: $95,295k - $120,834k. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. It will be determined by factors including but not limited to:  the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, geographic location, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
