Job Title: Health and Safety Advisor

Salary: £21.99 an hour

Duration: 6 months

Location: Wattisham Airfield (Close to Ipswich)

Headline

We wish to appoint a Health and Safety Manager, (38 hrs a week) reporting to the Site Manager.

First sentence

The key accountabilities of the job holder will be as follows:

  • Day-to-Day management and assurance of SHEF (Safety, Health, Environmental and Fire) arrangements.
  • Report directly to the Commanding Officer if it is considered further measures are required to achieve compliance.
  • Act as focal point for SHEF information.
  • Maintain a SHEF Plan covering all the main SHEF management areas which encompasses local issues.
  • Monitor all workplace and fire risk assessments for 7 Avn Sp Bn REME.
  • Monitor the application of the detailed arrangements for compliance with legislative and MOD requirements.
  • Act as the Secretary, write and circulate the minutes of the SHEF Committee.
  • Conduct the annual SHEF audits on all areas, reporting findings and produce annual report on the overall standard.
Who we're looking for:

  • NEBOSH - National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Good knowledge of SHEF practices and procedures.
  • Familiar with Military and/or MOD practices and procedures advantage but not necessary.
  • Good interpersonal skills and Computer Literate.
  • Has proven organisational skills
  • Able to work on own initiatives with defined guidelines.
  • Has excellent communication skills at all levels; verbal and written
  • Has the ability to meet objectives.
  • Customer care focused.
