Harvey Nash's client is recruiting for an Oracle DBA on an initial 6 month contract. The SME Oracle DBA will play a critical role in ensuring the successful migration of Oracle databases to AWS. This role requires deep expertise in Oracle database architecture and hands-on experience with database optimization, replication, and performance tuning. The SME Oracle DBA will collaborate closely with the Cloud Architect and other project stakeholders to address Oracle-specific challenges and maintain the integrity and performance of the databases during and after migration.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience managing and optimizing Oracle databases in production environments.
  • Proven expertise in Oracle database architecture, including schema design, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with database replication and migration to cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
  • Strong understanding of AWS services relevant to databases, such as RDS, EC2, and S3.
  • Proficiency in Oracle-specific tools and technologies (eg, RMAN, Data Pump, Oracle RAC).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Database Specialty or Solutions Architect certification.
  • Experience in transitioning from Oracle to alternative cloud-native database solutions.
  • Knowledge of cost optimization strategies to minimize Oracle licensing costs in the cloud.
