Job Title: Financial Accountant
Location: Hybrid working – Minimum 2 days per week in the office at Kingfisher House, Huntingdon.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 09:00-17:00
Payrate: £23.60-27ph
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our team. This role involves managing key financial operations, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and providing financial expertise to support decision-making. The Financial Accountant will have oversight of outsourced financial services, manage payroll resolutions, and provide guidance on technical accounting matters.
Key Responsibilities:
* Payroll and Issue Resolution:
* Address and resolve payroll issues promptly and effectively.
* Charity Review Coordination:
* Oversee and complete the charity review currently conducted by Trust auditors (Azets).
* Oversight of Outsourced Financial Services:
* Supervise NHS SBS services for supplier payments, transactional procurement, payroll, and treasury management.
* Statutory Compliance:
* Ensure compliance with internal and external statutory returns, including Month and Year-end accounts, Charity Accounting, and VAT returns.
* Financial Planning and Reporting:
* Support Trust-wide financial planning for the balance sheet and cash flow.
* Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the Trust's financial reporting system.
* Debt Management:
* Oversee the collection of debts arising from salary overpayments.
* Training and Support:
* Provide training to budget holders in financial management areas such as cash management, debtors, and capital expenditure.
* Reconciliations and Technical Advising:
* Perform financial reconciliations and provide financial information.
* Advise on technical matters, including VAT, capital accounting, and lease accounting.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Proven experience in financial accounting and reporting, ideally within the healthcare or public sector.
* Strong knowledge of statutory compliance, VAT, and technical accounting standards.
* Effective communication and training skills to support budget holders.
* Experience with outsourced financial services is desirable.
Key Competencies:
* Analytical and problem-solving skills.
* High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
* Strong organizational and time-management abilities
