Senior Photonics Design Engineer - South West England

Global technology company seeks a Senior Photonics Design Engineer to lead development of innovative fiber-optic products for industrial, aerospace & defence, and bio-photonics applications.

The role is hybrid although fully remote UK based candidates will be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design cutting-edge optical/photonic components and systems
• Lead team development and performance management
• Drive product development strategy
• Collaborate on prototype builds and testing
• Present to internal and external stakeholders

Requirements:

• Degree in Engineering or Physics (PhD preferred)
• Extensive knowledge of fiber-optics and photonics
• Experience with optical design tools (eg, Zemax)
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously and meet tight deadlines
• Experience in satellite communications, industrial sensing, or biomedical imaging preferred
