Network Engineer - Dark Fiber Network Experience (Dutch/English Speaking)
Initial 6 month contract + option to extend
Remote working (from EU), 1 day/month onsite in Geertruidenberg (Netherlands)
Languages: English & Dutch
For our client we are looking for a Network Engineer with experience in fiber optics.
We're looking for someone who knows about and can advise on fiber optic physical properties, CWDM, DWDM, lighting and amplification equipment etc.
Experience with companies delivering dark fiber networks ( eg Eurofiber or Relined ) and optic component suppliers could be an advantage.
Requirements:
These two aspects are crucial
. Experience in an OT environment where availability and security are crucial.
. Knowledge of and experience with dark fiber networks and the technologies involved.
Transition from third-party networks to a dark-fiber network for the upcoming years.
Relevant (example) questions could be:
- Can we use a 400km fiber path without amplification and if yes, how?
- Should we rent a single ring of dual fiber and operate with BiDi SFP's, or a double ring of dual fiber?
- Should we use lighting equipment from our network gear suppliers (eg HPE) or dedicated optical equipment?
- How can we implement fiber quality monitoring?
- Are we going to use CWDM or DWDM and why?
- What are the relevant aspects in the supplier's SLA?
