Senior Java Developer
Duration: 6 months + extensions
Project Location: Belgium, Brussels (HYBRID)
Hybrid: 1 day a week on-site

This is a Belgium- based role with an excellent immediate start for a public sector client.

EU Nationals only to be able to work in EU without Visa/Sponsorship.

What you'll do:

• Build new user-facing features with everything from database models to UI components
• Improve application and database performance through profiling and optimization, such as tweaking virtualized list rendering and implementing caching solutions
• Add monitoring, and alerts to our service so that we can better respond to operational incidents
• Work closely with Product Designer and Functional Analyst to come up with new feature ideas/concepts

Requirements:

Languages:

• French (C1), English (B2) - Essential

Core Development Skills:

• Programming Languages: Proficiency in JAVA (Essential)
• Frameworks & Libraries: Experience with Spring or Quarkus; Vaadin (Essential)
• DB: Experience with SQL or graph databases (Neo4J or others), and graph query languages (Cypher or others)
• API design: RESTful principles (Essential)
• Debugging and Testing: Expertise in debugging tools and testing methodologies (unit testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing) (Essential)
• Optimization techniques: Able to optimize code for load handling, memory, and response time. (Essential)
• Data Streaming & Log Management:
  • Kibana: for log management and performance monitoring.
  • Apache Kafka: for managing Real Time data streams.

DevOps & Automation:

• Version Control (Git): for code management, branching, merging, and collaborative workflows. (Essential)
• Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) : Experience with CI/CD pipelines (eg, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD) to streamline deployments and DevOps principles.
• Containerization: Docker, and OpenShift for scalable container management.
• Scripting and Automation: Maven
