Here at Cambridge Water, we believe in making education count. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Education Assistant to help educate our local schools about the wonderful world of water, through our range of assemblies and workshops.
Where will I be based?
The main base for the role is at our offices in Cambridge with frequent travel to our base in Walsall. The role also requires travelling to schools within our supply area(s).
What will I be doing?
As an Education Assistant, you will lead or assist in the delivery of our assemblies and workshops to schools. These fun, engaging, hands-on sessions centre around water efficiency, or the water cycle and treatment of water and have links to various areas of the National Curriculum, including Science, Literacy and Geography. Our sessions are designed for Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, with activities that can be tailored to suit different ages and abilities.
As part of your role, you will:
•Be responsible for the delivery of our education programme in the Cambridge region and assist in our South Staffs region
•Liaise with schools and manage the booking process and other administrative duties
•Prepare the appropriate resources for the assembly/workshop and check that any equipment used is in full working order
•Develop and maintain the Cambridge schools database
•Collate school feedback and review with the Education and Community Outreach Co-ordinator accordingly
•Promote the outreach programme to schools and wider community groups and associations within the area of supply
•Assist with the development of future programmes of work
•Assist with the management and co-ordination of Education volunteers
•Participate in our Employee Volunteer Scheme and assist the Education and Community Outreach Co-ordinator with identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
•Represent the company with a wide range of stakeholders as required
•From time to time, you may also be required to assist with events that promote our education programme.
As you will be working with children, you will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
What skills, knowledge and experience do I need?
•Previous experience in delivering either formal or informal education activities
•Knowledge and understanding of the education sector and National Curriculum
•IT literate (including Excel, Word, etc.)
•Excellent communication and presentation skills
•Ability to effectively feedback information
•Enthusiasm for education
•Flexibility and adaptability
•Ability to target the delivery of content appropriately to pupils of different ages and abilities
•Willingness to travel
•Team working skills
•Strong organisation skills
•Able to work independently - can show initiative and be self-motivated
•Hold a valid Driving Licence
•Experience of developing educational activities and resources
•Experience of working with Key Stage 3 pupils
•Experience of delivering STEM activities
•Knowledge of the water industry
•Experience of outreach work with a wide range of community groups and organisations
