Field Engineer - Medical Equipment Installation

Location: Remote/Hybrid
Reports to: Installation Supervisor

Role Overview:

Our clients are seeking a skilled and dedicated Field Engineer to join their team, responsible for the installation, maintenance, and service of medical equipment at customer sites. The role involves collaborating with customers and other team members to ensure that medical equipment is installed correctly, efficiently, and to the highest possible standard.

You will play a vital role in ensuring the equipment is fully operational, demonstrating its use to the customer, and providing ongoing support. Your expertise in electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems will be key to ensuring smooth operations and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation of Equipment:
    Install medical equipment at customer locations by working closely with the dentist and other team members. Ensure all installations are completed according to the customer's specifications and approved drawings.
  • Assembly & Setup:
    Use appropriate tools to assemble, fix, and perform electrical wiring, plumbing, and other necessary tasks to set up the equipment.
  • Operational Testing:
    Ensure equipment functions correctly by checking for any operational issues such as leaks, unusual noises, and performance inconsistencies.
  • Installation to Manufacturer Specifications:
    Install medical equipment and secondary devices to the manufacturer's specifications, ensuring compatibility with pre-installed services (such as plumbing and electrical).
  • Quality Assurance:
    Complete installations to the highest standard within the allocated time frame, ensuring equipment meets all functionality and safety standards.
  • Customer Training:
    Demonstrate the functionality of installed equipment to customers, ensuring they understand and are satisfied with its operation.
  • Site Cleanliness & Safety:
    Leave the working area clean and tidy upon completion of installation, ensuring all safety and cleanliness protocols are followed.
  • Customer Relationship Management:
    Act as an ambassador for the company, ensuring that customer needs are met and creating opportunities for future business. Address any concerns or issues promptly and professionally.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    Work closely with the Installation Supervisor, Sales Team, and customers to resolve any installation issues or ambiguities.
  • Record Keeping:
    Maintain accurate records of installations, company equipment, tools, vehicles, and mobile phone usage.
  • Maintenance & Warranty Work:
    Undertake necessary cabinetry modifications, troubleshooting, and warranty-related work as required.

Job Skills & Experience Required:

To succeed in this role, you'll need the following qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum 3+ years of electrical experience in a field engineer or technical role.
  • Certification in Electrical Installation, with practical hands-on experience.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills to manage documentation and customer communication.
  • Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, mechanical systems, electrical systems, x-rays, air, and water systems in a medical equipment context.
  • Customer-facing experience with strong interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication with customers and team members.
