Desktop Engineer - 365, SCCM, IVANTI, Trelix, GPO
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Desktop Engineer to join a Global M&A Programme. You will be responsible for the support install, patch management, inventory management, security and documentation of endpoint and collaboration tools used across Europe, North America and Canada.
Although primariliy remote there will be the expectation that you are able to travel to Europe and other sites to assist with rollouts, installs and upgrades.
Overview: As a Desktop Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing an organization's computer systems. You'll focus on ensuring that end-users have reliable and efficient desktops, laptops, and peripherals to perform their daily tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Hardware Support: Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues related to desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, and other peripherals.
- Software Installation and Configuration: Install, upgrade, and configure operating systems, software applications, and drivers on desktop machines.
- User Support: Provide technical assistance to end-users, addressing software and hardware problems promptly.
- Patch Management: Keep desktop systems up to date by applying security patches, updates, and service packs.
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of hardware and software inventory.
- Desktop Deployment: Set up and deploy new desktops and laptops for employees.
- Security Measures: Implement security protocols, including antivirus software and encryption, to protect desktop systems.
- Documentation: Create and update documentation related to desktop procedures, troubleshooting guides, and best practices.
- Demonstrate a strong support background, underpinned by a solid understanding of key endpoint technologies such as GPO, M365, WSUS, VDI, Alcea, MECM, MDM, SCCM, Ivanti, and Trellix.
- Possess advanced knowledge of collaboration tools, with a focus on O365 suite (eg, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive).
- While direct hands-on experience with these platforms is beneficial, paramount is the ability to capture requirements to leveraging these technologies for endpoint management and collaboration. A keen grasp of the principles underlying effective endpoint device management and collaboration platform integration, combined with the ability to guide technical teams and coordinate with IT stakeholders, is essential.
