Salary/Rate: £600/day
Start Date: 02/12/2024
Job Type: Contract
We are seeking a Lead Engineer/Architect with a strong focus on QA and automation to support our mission to build product engineering teams that prioritize test automation and own quality at every step.
As the Shift Left Consultant, you will coach and guide multiple squads technically and culturally, instilling best practices in automation and quality engineering. Your role is not a traditional QA/Test lead but rather a technical hands-on leader who will drive shift-left transformation within squads. You'll empower teams to integrate test automation as part of the build process and help them see the long-term benefits of this mindset.
Required Skills/Experience
- Proven experience as a Lead Engineer or Architect with a strong background in QA automation and shift-left practices.
- Demonstrated success in leading multiple squads or organizations in adopting a shift-left approach, emphasizing accountability for quality and automation within teams.
- Extensive technical experience with test automation tools, frameworks, and integration processes, enabling you to coach engineers hands-on in quality engineering.
- A QA mindset with an engineering focus, not merely as a Test Lead but as an Engineer dedicated to building quality from the start.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate the benefits of shift-left to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, fostering organic growth and adoption
Job Responsibilities/Objectives
- Lead and Inspire: Drive the shift-left mindset by coaching engineers and squads to integrate quality engineering into every phase of development, from design through deployment.
- Hands-On Technical Leadership: Act as a Lead Engineer/Architect with deep expertise in QA automation, guiding teams on technical implementation and best practices.
- Embed Quality Practices: Provide hands-on support to ensure automation is considered early in the development cycle, coaching squads on effective tools, frameworks, and techniques.
- Cultural Transformation: Influence and coach teams to understand and embrace shift-left principles, ensuring quality is a core responsibility within every squad.
- Deliver Results: Drive successful outcomes by not only discussing shift-left but by showing its value through tangible implementations and achievements within product engineering.
