Senior Engineer (Student Information Systems)

You will be part of a team delivering and supporting services that underpin a range of business critical activities and projects. This will focus on Banner 9, the Universities chosen student records system, but may broaden over time depending on University work and priorities.
You will use your skills, knowledge and experience to develop and maintain the student record system, responding to user requests and incidents that are raised. The role will involve communicating with a wide range of users, understanding their requirements and problems, and providing high quality solutions in accordance with IT change management principles. In order to be successful in the role you should ideally have some SQL/Oracle/Eclipse or Java experience, however further training and development will be provided for a suitable candidate. Knowledge of API development and integration work would be an advantage. You will also possess excellent communication skills that will be utilised when working with a wide range of IT colleagues and users.
Core skills -
- Extensive experience of developing systems and programs using a range of technologies and languages.
- Experience of enterprise-wide application management; supporting and maintaining corporate services.
- Experience of effectively gathering service requirements from diverse groups of stakeholders, to inform current and future service provision
- Experience of managing minor updates from review, through user acceptance testing to release in a managed environment
- An ability to explain technical problems in non-technical language using a range of techniques including written, verbal and using presentations to a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing technical issues;
- Experience working to deadlines, prioritising a range of tasks to ensure delivery in a role which has made competing demands on your time
