Job Title: Digital Infrastructure Server Specialist

Location: North London Area

Salary: £240-£270 a day Inside IR35

Job Type: Full-Time, Contract 6 months initial

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Digital Infrastructure Server Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the implementation, support, and maintenance of our Trust's server and storage infrastructure. You will work closely with other specialist roles within the Digital team to ensure that our infrastructure is secure, resilient, and highly available, providing seamless access to all applications, tools, data, and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Windows Server Expertise: Lead in providing advanced technical support for Windows Servers, while also assisting the team with aspects of Linux Server support.

  • VMware & Storage Management: Offer expert technical guidance on VMware, VMware Horizon, and manage SAN and NAS storage systems.

  • Disaster Recovery Planning: Play a key role in the development and ongoing maintenance of disaster recovery plans for server and storage infrastructure.

  • Backup Management: Lead and manage backup processes for all infrastructure systems, including specialized requirements like database backups.

  • Automation & Scripting: Utilize Scripting to automate routine tasks, ensuring all scripts are documented in a central register for team accessibility.

  • Monitoring & Maintenance: Implement and maintain automated, continuous monitoring systems for all server and storage infrastructure components to ensure optimal performance.

  • Comprehensive Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of all server and storage systems, including physical and logical implementations, security controls, applications, and dependencies. Provide an exhaustive list of Trust services supported by these systems.

  • Best Practice & Compliance: Develop, implement, and maintain departmental policies, processes, inventories, and documentation in line with industry best practices, such as ITIL. Regularly review and report on new requirements to the Digital Management Team.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Extensive experience in managing Windows Servers and working knowledge of Linux Server environments.
  • Proficiency in VMware, VMware Horizon, SAN, and NAS storage systems.
  • Strong experience in disaster recovery planning and backup management.
  • Proven ability to automate tasks using Scripting languages (eg, Bash, Python, PowerShell).
  • Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and best practices.
  • Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
