Job Title: Digital Infrastructure Network Specialist
Location: Middlesex
Job Type: Contract Full-time
Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled Digital Infrastructure Network Specialist to implement, support, and maintain our secure WAN and LAN network infrastructure, including VoIP telecoms. Collaborating with other Digital specialists, you will ensure our network supports secure, resilient, and highly available services for all applications and tools necessary for patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert technical guidance in network and network security infrastructure, including telecoms.
Manage and support Extreme, Cisco, and Mitel VoIP technologies.
Ensure diverse and highly available connectivity for WAN and LAN technologies.
Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans.
Collaborate with technical specialists to implement best practice Cyber Security controls.
Administer and configure network systems to ensure continuous service provision.
Utilize scripting to automate routine tasks and maintain a documentation register.
Monitor all network infrastructure components effectively and document all systems.
Maintain best practice documentation, policies, and processes for professional network management.
Ensure documented security controls comply with NHS and legislative standards.
Analyze and act on CareCERT and relevant security bulletins to enhance cyber security.
Liaise with suppliers to manage support calls and maintain effective communication.
Provide technical expertise and project management for Digital projects, including network infrastructure design and testing.
Contribute to the Infrastructure Team's Programme of Work.
Advise on Digital equipment procurement, ensuring adherence to technical standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
Degree or equivalent qualifications/experience.
Extensive experience in an Infrastructure network and network security role (minimum Band 6 equivalent).
Proficient in supporting complex network infrastructures, including:
LAN
WAN
HSCN
Internet
Wireless
VPN
QoS
Telecoms
Firewalls
Mitel VoIP
Cisco
Extreme
Experience with DNS and DHCP management.
Proven track record in supporting NHS network infrastructures in a secondary/tertiary care setting.
Skilled in routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP.
Experience with clinical systems protocols like DICOM and HL7.
