JRC Consulting Engineers Ltd is a South West Engineering Consultancy, based in Exeter, Devon, providing bespoke, pragmatic and trusted design solutions, and advice to both the domestic and commercial sectors. Projects range in value from individual domestic projects to developments with an overall contract value of in excess of £40 million. This has facilitated a broad experience base, enabling them to build valuable relationships with the Local and National Authorities over the years, and a knowledge of their expectations at each stage of design.
JRC is now seeking a recent graduate (within 3 years) from a civil engineering or related degree on a structured internship to research current Greenfield runoff rate constraints. The methodology of this calculation has recently changed and they would like to research what impact the change has on the environment and to the Client from a commercial perspective.
Having also recently purchased Revit 3D design software, it would be an added bonus if the graduate had experience of this to help progress the teams' knowledge with the use of this complex piece of software.
The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Working within a small team providing technical design best practice
- Managing and coordinating projects.
- Being responsible for the production of technical design information including drawings, calculations, specifications and reports.
- Liaising effectively with clients, local authorities and other design team members
- Assisting in the preparation of bids and proposals
- Developing business with new and existing clients
- AutoCAD or Revit experience is a bonus but not an essential requirement.
- A keen interest in Civil Engineering design
- Ability to work within a team
Their office is a busy and lively place to work where you'll benefit from 1:1 training from experienced members of the team, in a friendly environment. The Directors are keen to see their staff grow and develop, and progression in your career is greatly encouraged and supported. The team are professional, hard-working and enjoy socialising together. Recent socials include karting and a gin tour, but suggestions are welcome!
This role is being advertised as part of STEM Graduates into Business, a European Regional Development Funded project delivered by the University of Plymouth Careers Service. Its aim is to increase the number of paid internships available to recent graduates with small and medium sized enterprises based in Devon. Funded until spring 2021, the project should produce 80 internships with 80 separate employers across the county.
By providing support and funding to the SMEs, it is hoped that a cohort of graduate employing SMEs will be created which will continue to employ graduates beyond the life of the project.
