About the Role:

Were on the hunt for a dedicated Patent Agent with a degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field to join our clients IP Prosecution team. Based in Boston or Washington, DC, this role involves supporting partners in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting freedom to operate studies, and analyzing patents. AM Law 100 Requirement:

To be considered for this role, candidates must have recently worked at one of the AM Law 100 firms. To verify if your firm qualifies, please check this . Only candidates who have worked at these top firms will be considered for this opportunity.

Your Mission:

Assess scientific literature, patents, and patent applications in areas such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science.

Conduct comprehensive searches for relevant scientific articles, patents, and patent application documents.

Compose patent applications, including a background of the invention, critical features, and claims that distinctly define the invention.

Draft responses to patent rejections from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and other global patent offices.

Conduct clearance studies to ensure clients products are free of competitor patent issues.

Collaborate with team members and clients to protect innovative technologies and build robust IP portfolios.

Core Competencies:

Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science to assess and critique scientific data and inventions.

Patent Prosecution Skills: Experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications and preparing responses to patent office rejections.

Clearance & Due Diligence: Ability to conduct clearance studies and ensure products comply with relevant patents.

Communication & Collaboration: Ability to explain complex scientific concepts to both scientific and non-scientific audiences and work effectively within a team.

What You Bring:

Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.

Ability to present scientific concepts, analysis, and conclusions to a variety of audiences.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities.

Proven ability to collaborate and work effectively in team settings.
