Overview:

Navitas is ready to invest in you!  We are seeking an experienced Senior Lab Technician in Ann Arbor, Michigan that will work as part of a Research & Development team, will produce and evaluate lithium-ion battery Materials, electrodes, other cell components, and test cells.  

This position pays between $22.00-$24.00 per hour

Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.

Responsibilities:

Conduct chemistry-type laboratory work to prepare battery material samples, battery electrodes, and lithium battery test cells.

Assembly of lithium-ion cells and other items.

Set up and operate lab equipment, including cell assembly equipment, mixing and coating equipment, cell testing equipment, glove boxes, optical and electron microscopes, and analytical instruments.

Test data work up and reporting.

Contribute to reports and presentations as directed.

Follow work orders, traveler sheets, verbal instructions, engineering drawings, standard operating procedures, work instructions, and safety data sheets to conduct work.

Participate in lab management functions (equipment/assets/area hygiene, maintenance and management; chemical hygiene; environment, health and safety; quality system; etc.) as assigned.

Comply with Navitas policies and procedures.

On site presence is essential and necessary including weekends and holidays if deemed.

Other duties as assigned by management.

Management Responsibilities:  Direct reports as assigned by R&D management.

Qualifications:

BA/BS in a STEM field (chemistry, biology, etc.) including new graduates.

Non-STEM BA with 5+ years, BST with 5+ years, STEM AS or trade school with 10+ years, or high school diploma with 15+ years, of laboratory/technical experience.

Some individuals may qualify for Laboratory Technician or Scientist/Engineer positions.

Lithium/lithium-ion battery coursework or industry experience is preferred.

Experience in one or more areas is preferred: battery or energy storage industry, battery science/technology, materials formulation or synthesis, materials testing/analysis, electrode mixing/coating, lithium cell assembly, battery cell formation, battery cell testing.
