Overview:
The Medical Office Assistant or "MOA" is responsible for assisting providers in clinical duties related to patient care. The MOA works directly with RNs, APNs, and Physicians in the exam room areas as well as in treatment rooms.
Responsibilities:
Maintain clinic flow of scheduled patients on provider’s schedule by escorting patients to exam rooms.
Record vital signs, height, and weight in the Electronic Medical Record or “EMR”
Review and update patient medication list for each patient at every visit.
Assist in preparing patients for exams or procedures by providers. May assist in minor diagnostic procedures as requested. (i.e. pulse oximetry, pap smears)
Prepare, clean and maintain exam rooms, treatment rooms and medical equipment.
Order and maintain adequate clinical supplies and equipment.
Review patient chart and ensure that lab reports are recorded in the patient’s chart. May be required to request results from external facilities.
Work under the supervision of the Nursing staff in the treatment room to assist in patient needs. May be required to remove IVs.
Adherence to the ILCC employee handbook, HIPAA policies and ILCC code of conduct.
Travel to satellite clinic locations as needed.
Performs clinical and clerical related responsibilities as requested or directed.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
Three years of experience in a healthcare organization.
Certified Medical Assistant "CMA" or Certified Nurse's Assistant or "CNA" preferred.
