Job Description
Forbes Advisor is seeking a versatile and detail-oriented Deputy Editor to support our Banking and Investing verticals. The ideal candidate will handle tasks for each vertical—depending on the demand—while maintaining the highest standards of editorial quality.
The role requires an individual with a basic understanding of banking, investing and tax topics and a discerning eye for detail when fact-checking and editing.
Responsibilities:
Perform a high volume of minor updates on articles related to banking, investing, retirement and tax topics
Fact-check, edit, and refine existing content to ensure clarity, conciseness, and adherence to Forbes' style guide
Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of articles to reflect the latest news and market trends
Support supervising editors with day-to-day tasks, including fact-checking articles and ensuring content meets editorial standards
Prepare and send assignments to freelance writers while managing their deadlines
Perform minor updates on existing content to ensure accuracy and relevancy
Conduct outreach to advisory board members for expert input and article reviews.
Conduct first and second edits
Qualifications:
Basic understanding of investing, retirement, tax, and banking topics
Impeccable writing, grammar, and editing skills
Close attention to detail and adherence to editorial style guides
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage shifting priorities between verticals
Experience in fact-checking and collaborating with subject matter experts
Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and editorial workflow tools
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in financial journalism or a similar role
Basic working knowledge of WordPress and HTML
Experience working with freelance writers and managing editorial workflows
Familiarity with SEO best practices in editorial content
