Responsibilities:
The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting specimens and completing laboratory procedures within established guidelines following laboratory techniques.
Collects blood and urine specimens using knowledge of laboratory techniques
Ensures correct patient identification and appropriate labeling of specimens
Performs EKG tests
Performs nasal swabs for COVID and influenza
Performs quality controls on new and stock supplies per manufacturer
Possesses outstanding professional and positive customer service skills, able to put patient at ease and appropriately explain procedures
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures
Knowledgeable of and perform safe infection control practices including good hand hygiene, standard precautions, cleaning equipment and the environment
Must have excellent problem solving and follow-up skills
Experience with healthcare computer information systems
Solid knowledge of medical terminology
Must be highly organized, efficient, and multifunctional, work independently and within a team
Demonstrates forward thinking approach, continually looking for ways to improve processes, tools and resources to best serve the healthcare team and clients
Ability to manage challenging situations in providing services to patients and families
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
1 year phlebotomy experience and/or graduation from an accredited medical assistant or phlebotomy program required
