Overview:

Our Electrician is responsible for providing comprehensive electrical maintenance across all areas of Memorial Health as assigned.

This role ensures that all work is completed in accordance with established policies and procedures, work order specifications, and relevant codes.

Qualifications:

Education:

Associate’s Degree in a mechanical or science field, or completion of an apprenticeship as an electrician is required.

Electrical Certification/License is also required.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

A valid Illinois driver’s license is mandatory, and the candidate must meet the standards of the Memorial Health Fleet Safety Policy (a five-year Motor Vehicle Record will be required).

Experience:

A minimum of four years of commercial electrician experience is required.

Comprehensive knowledge of electrical safety, theory, troubleshooting, circuits, and installation is essential.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Ability to read, understand, and apply complex building codes, such as NFPA and Joint Commission standards.

Proficiency in applying electrical theory and interpreting blueprints and technical specifications.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to focus for extended periods.

Candidates must provide their own hand tools necessary for electrical work.

Basic computer knowledge is required.

Ability to distinguish between colors, including red, black, blue, gray, white, and green.

Responsibilities:

Work Prioritization: Establishes work priorities to ensure efficient organization and coordination of activities related to installing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances in compliance with codes and specifications.

Problem Resolution: Resolves complex wiring and installation issues, determining the best approach to repair faulty electrical systems and completing intricate work orders effectively and efficiently.

Installation and Repair: Plans the layout, installation, and repair of wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment, focusing on minimizing material waste and ensuring future maintenance accessibility as per specifications and local electrical codes.

Planning and Sketching: Prepares sketches to indicate the location of wiring and equipment or follows diagrams/blueprints, ensuring concealed wiring is installed before the completion of walls, ceilings, and flooring.

Conduit Work: Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit using tools such as hacksaws, pipe threading machines, and conduit benders. Pulls wiring through conduit as needed.

Testing and Safety: Tests circuit continuity to ensure electrical compatibility and safety using equipment like voltmeters, meggers, and other testing devices.

Goal Engagement: Actively engages in achieving division goals and coordinates assigned work to meet the needs of customers, patients, and visitors, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

Efficient Practices: Develops efficient work practices that optimize the use of time and materials, maintaining a commitment to safety procedures and cleanliness standards.

Disaster Preparedness: Thoroughly understands all hospital disaster codes and follows proper procedures promptly when required.

Professional Appearance: Maintains an appropriate dress and appearance, projecting a positive image of Memorial Health.

Interpersonal Skills: Interacts with patients and Memorial Health personnel courteously and professionally, adhering to the Code of Conduct of Memorial Health.

Additional Duties: Performs other related tasks as required or requested.
