Overview:

Position Highlights:Full Time

Under moderate supervision the BioMed Equipment Technician will repair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment, instrumentation, and support systems of moderate complexity used in healthcare delivery.  Inspect, install, and perform inventory assessments and preventive maintenance of medical equipment.  Assist medical and nursing staff in the use of equipment.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES

Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect medical equipment and instrumentations, including life-support equipment.

Perform preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems.

Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions.

Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections, and equipment repairs and failures.

Assist with and evaluate third-party repairs.

Provide technical assistance and instruction to personnel regarding equipment operation and maintenance.

Review outcome of preventive maintenance actions and make recommendations to department staff concerning improvements.

Provide mentoring to other biomedical equipment technicians.

May assist senior biomedical engineering technicians or supervisor with in-service educational programs on use of equipment.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of technical aspects of electronics equipment and its operation, repair and maintenance.

Knowledge of the application and repair of computers and servers and how they interface with medical equipment.

Knowledge of current regulatory requirements.

Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology as applied to use of biomedical equipment.

Knowledge of color code conventions used in component and wiring marking.

Ability to analyze, repair, and test electronic and electromechanical equipment.

Ability to run diagnostic programs.

Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and illustrated parts drawings of biomedical instrumentation.

Ability to maintain accurate records of repairs, calibration, and tests.

Skill in testing electronic equipment.

                              

Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in electronics or biomedical equipment technology is highly desirable

Years of Experience

Minimum of three years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment.  An equivalent combination of eduacation and experience may be submitted.

An understanding of ultrasound equipment repair and calibration is a plus for this positon.

Must have a working car and willing to drive to multiple sites. Average travel is 150-200 miles per week.
