CTG's premier client has a contract assignment for a Mechanical Engineer.

Type: Contract

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Location: Hickory, NC

Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Hickory, NC

Pay Rate: Based on experience

Work Schedule: Typical 40 hours per week, may require working weekends/holidays or longer days to support installation schedules.

Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Technology

A successful candidate in this position will possess strong soft skills as well as:

Experience with high-speed cable manufacturing equipment is a plus but not required (jacketing, ribbon stranding, buffering).

Experience with mechanical equipment design, install, start-up, and debug in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Ability to manage mechanical and electrical trades executing equipment install and debug.

Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor).

Scope of Position:

The Mechanical Engineer will provide hands-on mechanical support for the installation, start-up, and debugging of high-cable manufacturing process equipment. This role involves collaborating with a multi-functional team (mechanical, electrical, controls, facilities, IT, operations, etc.) and applying mechanical principles across various disciplines.

Travel Requirements:

Duration: 10/20/24 – 2/28/25

Expected to be on-site in the plant during the week.

Travel to a supplier or vendor may be required for equipment check-out before shipment.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Technology

Experience: Minimum of 5+ years in a similar role

Knowledge of machine guarding and safety practices and standards (OSHA, etc.)

Good written and oral communication skills

Ability to collaborate and work with diverse teams (skills, gender, culture, race, etc.)

Capable of multitasking and working with minimal direction

Familiarity with other engineering disciplines (electrical, civil, process, etc.)

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate tasks and work plans for team members to meet customer schedules

Provide hands-on input and insight into equipment installation and troubleshooting

Support start-up and qualification of equipment

Verify equipment build and layout against drawings

Coordinate installation plans with safety and plant receivers

Collaborate with engineers and vendors to resolve equipment installation or build discrepancies

Ensure safe work practices

Update drawings and equipment documentation

Additional Information:
