Job Summary:

Provides day-to-day oversight of the Career Program including coordination, planning, operations, and implementation.  Provides oversight and supervision of assigned staff and ensures clients and program participants are served in a manner to the best outcomes.

The Career Programs Manager will build and maintain relationships with external partners and act as a liaison between the organization and key stakeholders. As trends emerge and new technologies are implemented, this leader will ensure programs are relevant and current. The Career Programs Manager will ensure programs comply with relevant regulations and accreditation requirements.

Job Duties:

Manages program activities to provide services and meet program goals and objectives.  Develops, communicates, and implements program goals, objectives, and activities in accordance with grant.  Prepares and oversees program budgets, including expenditures, to ensure compliance.  Provides supervision of staff and monitors job performance, measures, and outcomes.  Composes and submits reports in writing and verbally as needed.  Utilizes Career Services Client Database as needed to monitor client information and progress, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information as well as making approvals for client services. Markets and performs outreach for the program with the assistance of staff, serving as spokesperson for the Program.  Assists with monitoring job sites, training, and participants’ progress to ensure compliance with the grant and program objectives.  Interacts with various internal/external agencies, programs, and services to perform the role of advocate for the program and the program's clients/participants.  Works with individuals of all backgrounds and barriers and strives to serve clients in the most efficient and effective manner possible.  Creates an environment of services that works with individuals with diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and ensures that staff helps to maintain that environment.  Conducts and attends meetings as needed.  Completes all reporting, ensuring reporting timelines are met and that reporting content is accurate and relevant.  Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Directly supervises six (6) employees in the Career Services Department.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities following the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

This position will provide oversight for the Career Services Vocational Programs as well as manage the Career Readiness Campus in Tahlequah.

Qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT 

Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university; no substitutions.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT 

At least five (5) years of experience in a related field.

COMPUTER SKILLS 

An individual should have knowledge of Database software, Internet software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to correct/adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
