Job Purpose: The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Associate plays a crucial role in supporting our company's safety culture and operational excellence. This entry-level position provides EHS support for our field Operations team and assists in the creation, upkeep, and maintenance of all EHS Voltyx programs and policies. All programs and policies will be compliant with all applicable standards (OSHA, ANSI, IEEE, etc.) including both employee and customer facing documents. The Associate will support the EHS Team, field employees, operations, and others within the organization. This role offers a unique opportunity to learn and grow within the EHS field while contributing to enhancing culture and safety practices across the entire organization.

Salary Range: $50-70k/Year

Location: This position is based out of our Vancouver, Washington Office.

Responsibilities:

Safety Culture and Leadership

Support the promotion of the company's Safety culture and demonstrate the EHS standard.

Assist EHS Managers in improving employee engagement in safety.

Contribute to developing and promoting EHS improvement across the organization.

Training and Education

Assist in conducting environmental, health and safety training in office and field settings.

Support the coaching and education of field employees on human operational performance.

Help implement EHS programs within the region.

Compliance and Risk Management

Assist in evaluating field work environments for potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.

Support inspections of workplace environments, equipment, and practices, to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards and regulations.

Review and familiarize yourself with applicable legislation and standards to ensure compliance as well as the requirements of the customers.

Data Analysis and Reporting

Participate in incident investigations and help identify root causes, corrective actions, owners, and timing for closure.

Assist in compiling, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting EHS statistical data, and help prepare recommendations to eliminate or minimize potential risks.

Support the monitoring of safety performance in the region including projects and services to ensure company and client procedures and requirements are met or exceeded.

Program Development and Implementation

Contribute to revising and developing policies and procedures that impact the safety and well-being of employees, customers, property, equipment and, as applicable, members of the public.

Help validate that all safety equipment is properly maintained, inspected, calibrated, and repaired or put out-of-service as necessary.

Collaboration and Communication

Work with the operations team to ensure health, safety and environmental requirements are identified and incorporated in the planning process.

Support efforts to improve and align policies, procedures, training, and expectations across the organization and with customers.

Assist in facilitating regional safety conference calls and/or regional safety meetings.

Qualifications:

Required

Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health & Safety, or related field

0-3 years of EHS experience or internship, or equivalent field experience

Interest in obtaining safety certifications tied to industry standards

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office to include: Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to lift 40 lbs

Capable of working outside in various weather conditions

Willingness to travel up to 60% within the Western Region and Regional United States

Preferred

Familiarity with industry power systems, processes, policies and construction standards

Ability to quickly learn relevant industry standards and safety software

Personal Qualities

Strong attention to detail

Problem-solving and critical thinking skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Passion for creating and maintaining safe work environments

Eagerness to learn and grow in the EHS field
