Overview:

The Class Teacher works with the leadership of the school and in collaboration with Class Teachers and Subject Teachers in the Lower, Middle School and Upper Schools to develop and implement a quality learning experience for our students. The Class Teacher plans, organizes and implements an appropriate instructional program at the Mary Francis Bachmann School that guides and encourages children to develop and fulfill their potential while engaging the family as an essential element in the success and development of every student.

Responsibilities:

Plans, prepares and delivers lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning consistent with the philosophies and objectives of the Mary Francis Bachmann School.

Develops assessments that measure student growth and establishes benchmarks to track long-term trends

Assists students in the use of learning materials and age appropriate technology..

Seeks innovative resources to be incorporated into the classroom and shared with colleagues. 

Sets high standards for an inclusive and caring classroom environment reflective of our values of compassion, inclusion, integrity, excellence, and collaboration.

Engages in professional development opportunities to further student engagement, learning, and student enrollment/retention.

Adheres to policies set forth in the community and employee handbook.

Provides appropriate feedback on growth and development to children and families.

Encourages and monitors the progress of individual students and uses information to adjust teaching strategies.

Maintains accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.

Updates all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, policies and school regulations.

Participates in school and parent meetings and special activities.

Communicates information to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.

Demonstrates preparation and skill in working with students from diverse and cultural backgrounds and with varying academic ability levels.

Encourages parent and community involvement.

Maintains compliance with regard to state, federal and CHI guidelines.

Qualifications:

Education (including licenses, certifications):

Bachelor's degree required

Pennsylvania State issued teaching credential preferred

Experience required and preferred:

Experience in elementary or secondary education required

Experience in leading co-curricular programs preferred

Bi-Lingual (Spanish) preferred

Skill Competencies:

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Creative in their approach to their job.

Demonstrate an understanding of inquiry based teaching.

Demonstrate an understanding of the cultural and social barriers that can exist when accessing health-related services.

Physical Requirements: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a hand-held learning device and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Promote a positive team-based approach to student care and learning.
