WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

In a rapidly evolving market landscape, agility, innovation, analytical prowess, top-tier client service, and effective execution are paramount. We seek a meticulously organized, adaptable, enthusiastic, and results-oriented Assistant Controller to bolster our expanding Accounting division. This role entails spearheading our accounting operations within the United States.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Preparation of financial statements for Relm Insurance Solutions Ltd in accordance with GAAP

Help manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger

Reconcile insurance premium receivables and payables to ensure accuracy and completeness

Prepare, submit and maintain state surplus line tax filings

Calculate annual U.S. income taxes. 

Perform monthly and year-end close procedures

Assist in the development and monitoring of internal controls

Prepare and analyze financial reports for management

Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes

Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations

Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and provide support as needed

Participate in audits and provide documentation as requested

Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and regulations

Coordinate with external tax advisors to optimize tax strategies and minimize tax liabilities

Conduct tax research and analysis to stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations

Prepare and maintain documentation for tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities

Collaborate with underwriting and claims departments to analyze and report on insurance related financial metrics

Stay abreast of developments in insurance accounting standards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements and filings for insurance regulators

Requirements

BA in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred

10 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with 2+ years in a supervisory position

5+ years of experience working in Insurance is required

Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements

Experience with US tax filings and insurance regulatory requirements

Proficiency in accounting software. Experience with MS Business Central is a plus

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Proficiency in MS Office applications with advanced Excel knowledge.
