Job Description

The Massachusetts Center of Excellence on Problem Gambling Prevention (MCOE PGP) @ Education Development Center (EDC) is seeking candidates for a paid internship.

MCOE PGP provides capacity building, training, and program development services to address the prevention of problem gambling and its intersection with related health issues, such as substance misuse and mental health problems.

The internship is designed to provide a current student majoring in public health with professional work experience and assist in applying knowledge and competencies obtained in public health coursework. The intern will acquire practical skills needed to function as a professional in the public health field while being of service to various communities in Massachusetts.

This is a hybrid-remote position open to candidates based in Massachusetts. You will work 1-2 days per week with the number of hours determined based on school requirements. The internship will begin in mid-January and last for one semester.

You will:

Take part in virtual and in-person meetings with internal MCOE PGP staff and external Office of Problem Gambling staff and grantees.

Be available at least twice a month for in-person meetings.

Contribute to the development and delivery of presentations that will communicate research, findings, data and other topic areas around Problem Gambling Prevention and Services.

You will gain:

Technical Assistance experience in public health, health equity and community engagement.

Knowledge in public health and prevention services.

Exposure to servicing diverse communities in Massachusetts including communities that are underserved.

Confidence and skills in presenting, facilitating and communicating in Problem Gambling Prevention.

This internship position offers a base hourly range of approximately $19 to $22.  Salary offers are made based on market analysis and internal equity.

You will be successful in this position if:

You have experience and curiosity for community health.

You enjoy working independently and taking the initiative with some guidance.

You are hoping to build upon your current presentation and communication skills.
