Clearance Requirements: National Agency Check and Inquiries with Fingerprints
Type of Employment: Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
Estimate Pay: $24.85/hour.

Day Shift: 8:00am 4:30pm
Paid Time Off per Year: 80-hours per year, occurring on day of hire.
Sick Leave per Year: 56-hours per year, occurring on day of hire.
Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays
Working Hours:
The Optical Technician services are required for the Day Shift (800am to 4:30pm), Monday through Friday on 8-hour shift basis to support Optical Fabrication Services. Total working hours will not exceed 40 hours per week. Overtime is not authorized under this contract.
Qualifications/Credentialing
High school diploma or equivalent
One (1) year experience in an optical laboratory setting.
Optical Technicians must be computer literate
Most be able to read and write in English
Basic Life Support Certification
Descriptions of Services
Using patients prescription, mathematically computes lens Data to include vertical and horizontal decentration and prism requirements utilizing Ophthalmic Formulas.
Selects Ophthalmic single vision or multi-vision lenses or lens blanks by lens material (Polycarbonate, High Index, CR39 or Other Materials) required for the fabrication of lenses to exact prescription specifications.
Selects proper frame according to spectacle prescription and forwards to the surfacing or fabrication sections.
Must be able to operate ophthalmic lens-manufacturing devices/equipment in both the surfacing and fabrication sections of the laboratory.
Ophthalmic devices/equipment can include, but are not limited to, Satisloh ART auto and manual Blocker, Orbit 2 Generators, Magni spin auto lens coaters, ART manual and auto lens deblockers, Automated surfacing production equipment, C6I Auto blocker, Tinting Equipment, Lens Analyzers, AIT Speed Lens Blockers, Satisloh 7EX edging machines.
Tests lenses for safety, aberrations, abnormalities, and expertly assembles lenses and frames. Aligns and inserts lenses into Zylonite/Vinyl frames while frames are expanded by heat.
Also fits lenses into metal frames by bending metal frame to fit lens curvature and/or removing excess lens material with hand beveling device.
Tint lenses to required filtering requirements as specified by the prescription and compliance with ANSI Standards utilizing a photometer or equivalent device.
Uses lens analyzer to make final inspection of completed spectacles for possible flaws or faulty workmanship.
Evaluates completed optical devices/spectacles utilizing necessary ophthalmic formulas and sound judgment to determine if Optical devices/spectacles comply with the prescribing Doctors Prescription and ANSI standards prior to the delivery of spectacles to patient.
Perform routine operator maintenance and adjustments to equipment used, to include calibrating, oiling, lubrication, etc., in accordance with operators manuals. Assures machines are operating properly when using equipment.
