Overview:
Gates Hudson is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our exciting HR team. This position is responsible for processing multiple payrolls, maintaining accurate payroll data, and answering employee inquiries. The Payroll Specialist will report directly to the Payroll Manager.
Responsibilities:
Maintains and updates employees’ pay records
Gathers information on hours worked for all employees within a given pay group
Prepare and process pay data through our HRIS/Payroll system, UKG Pro and distribute paychecks as needed
Ensures the accuracy of federal, state, and local taxes, fringe benefits, garnishments, etc.
Audits employee T&A records, wages, compensation benefit rates, new hire information, etc.
Conducts monthly audits of PTO accruals and balances
Supports the annual salary review process by providing needed reports and information on salary changes and role alignment
Maintains and processes payroll transactions with accuracy and efficiency in UKG Pro
Monitors and provides timely answers to employee payroll inquiries via HR HelpDesk
Provides audit support to the Payroll Manager as needed
Train new hire employees in all timekeeping and approval processes and procedures
Assists with special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
A minimum of 3 years payroll processing experience with high volume, multi-state environment
Accounting fundamentals proficiency and payroll best practices
One year of experience with UKG Pro, Workday or HRIS systems is required
Knowledge of applicable payroll laws and regulations (I.e. Sarbanes-Oxley Act, FLSA, FMLA, Overtime)
Experience processing bonuses and commissions
Experience with acquisitions and processing multiple company entities
Ability to work collectively, as well as follow through independently to complete tasks as required
Outstanding organizational ability with excellent and accurate attention to detail
Ability to work independently on multiple tasks under tight deadlines
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Competency in Excel (pivot tables and VLOOKUPS) and other Microsoft Office products
Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality
BS/BA in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources Management or equivalent work experience required
